In preparing this meal you will need the following ingredients, which includes:

  • Cocoyam
  • Fish
  • Stockfish
  • Crayfish
  • Pepper
  • Maggi
  • Salt
  • Onion
  • Garri
  • Meat

Utensils needed are:

  • Mortar and Pestle
  • Pot
  • Spoon

How to make White Soup|| Afia Efere/Ofe Nsala

Having known what White soup is, it is now important to proceed to knowing the steps or the processes involved in preparing this meal.

  • Peel, boil and pound the cocoyam in a Mortar with pestle
  • Take a measured part of the pounded cocoyam, to add in the soup during cooking
  • Add garri during the process to make it hard, so as not to be too soft
  • Put your stock fish, fish in the pot
  • Add measured quantity of water, add salt
  • Place it on the fire
  • After boiling has begun and is ongoing
  • Put your steamed meat and crayfish
  • Add other ingredients like maggi and pepper
  • Allow to boil for some time
  • Put the measured pounded cocoyam and stir
  • For it to dissolve properly
  • Allow to boil, then after some time you Afia Efere or Ofe Nsala is ready for consumption

Note: If during cooking you notice the soup is too thick you can still add water and some ingredients to reduce the thickness and retain the sweetness.
