History of University of Edinburgh
Bishop Robert Reid of St. Magnus Cathedral on Ornkey had the vision of building a college where he could teach Poetry, Rhetoric and other courses such as Philosophy in 1557, but this was hindered for over 20 years due to a Reformation Parliament as a result of religious view in 1560. As time went on the King granted a royal charter to create a college in 1582, after James Lawson who was the first prime minister of Edinburgh and Lord Provost William Little revived the will.
The school was formerly Tounis College King Jame' College, it was established over 400 years ago, since 1548. It has a total of 4952 academic staffs and 6215 adminstrative staffs, the school is located in Edinburgh, Scotland in the United Kingdom. According to QS World University Rankings, the school ranks as 22nd, while the Academic Ranking of World University ranks the school as 38th. The school is sited in a serene environment, which makes learning conducive. It has a good number of faculties, schools and Courses.
It has partnered with persons and bodies in issuing scholarship to competent persons. On like other schools it offers baccalaureate, masters and doctoral degrees. The University of Edinburgh has five main campuses in the Edinburgh city namely:
