History of the University of Port-Harcourt (UNIPORT) 

Established as University College, Port-Harcourt, the University of Port-Harcourt was established in 1975. The school has a good number of faculties, schools which includes school of humanities, school of chemical sciences, faculty of education, faculty of management science among others. It affiliates with other Institutions registered with the National Universities Commission (NUC), which are:

Methodist Theological Institute Umuahia

Baptist College of Theology, Obinze, Owerri

National Missionary Seminary of St. Paul, Gwagwalada, Abuja.

On like other schools, it issues first degrees, Masters and Doctoral degrees to its students, it admits students who are made the school their first choice, as admissions are been provided by the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) an examination board which regulates admissions into tertiary institution in the country, more information about the school can be gotten at www.uniport.edu.ng. The colour of the school is blue and white having "For Enlighten ment and Self-reliance" as it motto, all these can be found in the school logo.
