History of Imo State University (IMSU)
Imo State University, is a state owned University located in Owerri Imo State, Nigeria. The school has produced prominent personalities in state and the country at large, that we will be considering as we go further. It first admitted students, were up to 392, this was in October 1981. The current Vice Chancellor of the school is Professor Uchefula Ugonna Chukwumaeze. The statement of law enacting the creation of this school, was made public by the state house of assembly, through Law No.4.
During the tenure of Governor Rochas Okorocha, students who were indigenes of the states were given free education, but this was terminated by the Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Adaobi Obasi through the registrar, Emeka Ejinkoye who made them certain fees at the school. The first batch of students given provisional admission by JAMB was in February,1993, after it moved to its permanent site from Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education in 1992 more information about the school can be gotten at www.imsuonline.edu.ng.
